LAKE MONKEYGUIDESwitch Lake
LAKE HARTWELL
Lake Hartwell stretches across the Georgia-South Carolina line near Anderson, Clemson and Hartwell, offering about 56,000 acres of water and an extraordinary 962 miles of shoreline. Largemouth bass are a headline fishery, with spotted bass adding another major black-bass opportunity. Striped and hybrid bass, crappie, catfish and bream make Hartwell a true multi-species lake, while blueback herring help fuel fast-moving bass and open-water action. Long points, creek arms, rocky banks, standing timber and deep water give anglers plenty of ways to change with the season. Away from fishing, Hartwell’s public lands, recreation areas, campgrounds, marinas and easy I-85 access make it a lake where a fishing trip can easily become a full weekend on the water. With so much shoreline, choosing the right side of the lake and the right launch before you leave home can make a huge difference.
