LAKE BOWEN
Lake Bowen is a 1,534-acre Spartanburg County reservoir with about 33 miles of shoreline, making it smaller and easier to learn than giant lakes such as Hartwell or Murray while still offering plenty of room for a full day on the water. Largemouth bass are a major local fishery, with black and white crappie, channel catfish and bluegill giving anglers several other popular targets. Docks, shoreline cover, creek channels, bridges and offshore structure give fishermen plenty to explore without needing to run miles across a huge reservoir. Bowen also feels distinctly local: Spartanburg Water operates the lake and Lake Bowen Park provides waterfront fishing, picnic areas and both motorized and non-motorized boat access. Its location near Inman, I-26 and the greater Spartanburg area makes it an easy choice for an after-work fishing trip, a family lake day or a Saturday spent chasing bass and crappie close to home.
