CLEAR LAKE
Clear Lake sits at the heart of California’s Lake County and covers roughly 43,520 acres, combining broad shallow water, protected bays, tule edges, docks and offshore structure in one highly productive natural lake. Largemouth Bass drive much of its national fishing reputation, while Black and White Crappie, Bluegill, catfish and Common Carp add depth to the fish community. The lake’s warm, fertile water can also produce seasonal cyanobacteria concerns, so current water-quality information belongs in the same trip plan as fishing conditions. Lake Monkey documents all 10 County-maintained access rows, including the current hand-launch-only restriction at Clearlake Avenue and the kayak-oriented limitation at Rodman Slough. Clear Lake works as both a serious bass destination and a full Lake County boating getaway.
