LAKE GREENWOOD
Lake Greenwood stretches across Greenwood, Laurens and Newberry counties with 11,400 acres of water and 212 miles of shoreline. The Saluda and Reedy rivers feed this county-owned reservoir, creating a mix of river arms, creek mouths, docks, woody cover, points and deeper main-lake structure. Largemouth bass are a major draw, with crappie, channel and flathead catfish, striped bass, bluegill, shellcracker and perch adding variety throughout the year. SCDNR lists five boat ramps and 16 fish attractors, while Lake Greenwood State Park adds public boating, fishing, camping and shoreline recreation. The surrounding Lakelands region gives visitors lakefront food, marinas, tackle shops and easy access to Greenwood and Ninety Six, making the lake well suited for both serious fishing and relaxed weekend trips.
